Recycling & Trash
Recycling Center Overview
Thanks for your interest in recycling! Joplin’s Recycling Center is located at 1310 West A Street, and is open from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the Center is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Throughout the year, the Center accepts cardboard, fiberboard, magazines, office paper, newspapers, telephone books, plastic #1 and #2 bottles with necks, all colors of container glass, metal, packing peanuts, #2 plastic shopping bags, ink jet cartridges, all batteries, and waste electronics. The center also accepts (limited) household hazardous waste from residents of McDonald, Newton, Jasper, Barton and Vernon Counties due in part to Region M and DNR grant funding. Business hazardous waste is never accepted.
Packing materials, used books and magazines, and a self-serve paper shredder are available for free at the Recycling Center.
Special events are held at various times throughout the year, including Earth Day in April and America Recycles Day in November.
