With the breaking news event in Miami, FL, it would benefit Joplin to get a plan in place to combat the use of bath salts, a new street drug that young adults are using to acheive mind-altering affects, and more dangerous than anything ever seen before. This is harmful in so many ways, not to mention the deadly consquences as seen on a Miami freeway.
Let's combat before it gets here, and it probably is already on our back door. Ban the use of recreational drugs that kids are using these days, and keep Joplin's streets clean by reporting ANY and all suspicious activity. Call the police, and keep kids clean.

The neighborhoods East of Rangeline do not have access to any parks nearby. There is a large lot for sale on Rex between 10th St and 12th St that would make a very nice small park, nothing huge, but good for the families that live in the neighborhood. It is a beautiful wooded lot that could have a small walking trail and playground added. Right now there is nowhere for families that live in the neighborhoods east of Rangeline to go without having to cross a major road, and a park in this location could serve the neighborhoods and apartments from Rangeline to Duquesne and 7th St to 20th St.

It is reported in the paper today that the land is to be leased for $13,916 a month for 99 years. That works out to be $166,992 a year; that is $16,532,208 for the 99 years. Then the city has an...

Then the city has an options to buy the land in the future. Why not buy the land out right instead of wasting money on a least for the land? Also why does the city need another movie theater? I also disagree with putting faculty in an area of homes. I think this is not a good location for the area.

My family and I just moved to Joplin a couple of months ago. We are loving the people in the community but I am very disappointed with the options available to buy quality groceries. Joplin, and the surrounding areas, are a growing structure that need to prepare for the surge in the population. The number of places directly in Joplin that I have found to buy quality meat and produce for my family has been very unfortunate. Are there any discussions to provide more options to the city of Joplin?

The city of Joplin will be receiving millions from the Govt. and the citizens are asked to give their opinions on how it should be spent. Personally, I would like to see this be spent to benefit all Joplin residents. Those who have lived in Joplin for many years, will remember when the City paid for Sewer and Trash pick-up for all Joplin Residents. This, to me, would be an excellent way to use this money. It would not only help all the citizens, but work in the Beautify Joplin promotions. Come on Joplin, give back to the Residents that have been supporting the community since it's beginning. Take a chance and step out of the "Norm" for city expenditures. It could create more Jobs for the community as well.
