Overview & Mission Statement

The purpose of the City of Joplin Youth Council is to:

  • Serve as liaisons to the Joplin City Council
  • Implement and participate in community initiatives
  • Prepare youth to be future civic leaders 
  • Develop leadership skills and demonstrate leadership abilities by working with and in city government

Mission Statement:

The 2020-2021 Joplin Youth Council seeks to improve the welfare of the Joplin community in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Council members will volunteer at local food pantries and help spread awareness about mental health resources to our community.

About Jane: Jane aspires to have a career in medicine while continuing her endeavors of championing healthcare equality.

About Kami: Kami plans to graduate in May and go to college to study criminology.
