Flexibility is included in the renovation plans, so groups of various sizes have options to meet their needs. The Hall offers a large venue that can be set in numerous arrangements, whether with theatre seating, a banquet with a served meal, a conference-style format, a full tradeshow with displays of materials, small group meetings, or a combination of any of these. An 8,500 square foot addition to Memorial Hall increases indoor programming and recreation and flexible meeting and event space options for the community.
Entertainment options could include musicals and theatre productions, among others, that will enjoy an expanded and updated stage. The improvements and new amenities are planned to create a functional and flexible space while allowing the audience to appreciate the performances in a more comfortable environment.
Renovation plans help to address the needs citizens brought forward in surveys and public meetings about Memorial Hall including:
- Flexible Meeting Venue for trade shows, dances, weddings, receptions, banquets
- Entertainment opportunities to host plays, musicals, concerts, and other theatrical productions
- Event & gathering space for area clubs, civic groups, hobbyists, businesses, families, and other groups
- Catering Kitchen that allows for food service options, as well as possible cooking classes and demonstrations
These upgrades are designed to provide numerous options and settings for meetings and events in a historic landmark in downtown Joplin, just as the building’s forefathers planned.
